Ausangate mountain has an altitude of 6,372 meters msl, with luck it can be seen from Cusco on sunny days.
The daily temperature raises 13 Celsius, but at night goes down from 4 Celsius and 10 Celsius, in June and July.
The trek generally starts at an altitude of 4,000 meters msl. We’ll pass close to HUCHUY PINAYA town. In this place we’ll swim in a nice hot spring.
FIRST DAY : CUSCO - TINQUI
We leave Cusco at 6:00 a.m. direct to the town of TINQUI. On the road we’ll stop in the traditional markets of URCOS and CCATCA.
SECOND DAY : TINQUI - UPIS - AZULCCOCHA
After breakfast, we’ll start the trek climbing to reach a pass at an altitude of 4,500 meters msl. After crossing this point, we’ll continue to AZULCCOCHA LAGOON, passing close to the lower parts of Ausangate Mountain. In this lagoon we’ll install the base camp. Cusco Travel
THIRD DAY : AZULCCOCHA - FINAYA TOWN
This will be a hard and demanding trek. The reason why? We’ll have to cross two passes. One at 5,000 meters msl. and the next one at 5,200 meters msl.. This point is called PALOMANI PASS. From here we’ll start our downhill trek to the base camp. Cusco Travel
FOURTH DAY : FINAYA COUNTRY ESTATE - COMERCCOCHA
Continuing the soft trek, we’ll be able to observe the "huallatas" (a sort of a chicken) in its natural environment, and other wild animals. Cusco Travel Peru Travel Agency
Today we’ll have to cross the ARAPA PASS at 5,100 meters msl.
